FISH MARKET IN GUADALAJARA

Having tried the Zapopan Fish Market and the Fish Market south of Lazaro Cardenas, we think the Fish Market on the east side of Guadalajara to be the best as well as the closest.

Go to Guad on the airport highway. When the north and south bound lanes separate to go up and over the mountain where Hotel Tapatio is located, cross over Lazaro Cardenas and then get in the 2nd lane from the right. The goal here is to wind up in the right-hand pair of lanes on Gonzales Gallo heading toward Parque Azule and Av. Independencia.
Before you get to the park you will take a right at the stop light on to Calzado Del Ejercito.  There is a large Amuito plumbing store just across Calz. Del Ejercito.

Several stoplights down the road there is a monument of a large eagle in the center of the road: you will pass it on your right.  When you cross Av. Revolucion, continue straight but the road will change its name to Belisario Dominguez. Cross Gigantes and Javier Mina. And just about a couple of blocks past Javier Mina turn right on Josefa Ortiz Dominguez. Go about five blocks to the “T” and turn left on Calle Estaban Loro. The market is the 2nd block on the right.  The fish market is the entire square block.

There is some parking around this quadrangle of shops on all sides. The market is bounded by one-way streets:
Estaban Loro,
Josefa Ortiz Domiinguez,
Francisco Ayza,
Porfirio Diaz

The restaurants and restrooms are in the center. Selection is better in the mornings before 10:00, but the restaurants buy much earlier. They are open on Saturday and Sunday as well, but are swamped with people, especially on Sunday. There is a large Tianguis nearby contributing to the congestion on Sunday as well, making it our least favorite day there.
